Located on the Surfers Paradise beachfront this multi-level holiday complex comprising of 36, 1 & 2 bedroom apartments over 13 Levels was completed in May 1980.

The building Body Corporate contacted Inglis Fire and Safety in relation to remediation works to Fire Rated Metal Door Frames and Fire Doors within the building. Upon a site inspection significant rust and corrosion was identified in the metal door frames that required repair and torn slot hinges needing replacement. The original doors installed at time of construction contained asbestos and needed replacement.  

Asbestos fire doors may have a friable asbestos core inside a door made of millboard, or be made from cement sheeting. They may be covered in wood, veneer or cladding, and have mastic insulation that looks like a plastic coating or tape. From the top, the asbestos core often appears white.

When removing asbestos core fire doors contractors must NOT remove any hardware fittings from the door i.e. hinges, handles, door closers etc., only unscrewing the hardware items attaching the door to the door frame are to be removed, leaving all hardware items in place on the door itself.

Asbestos can be released into the air if the materials are disturbed during maintenance, such as fixing door handles, locks and hinges.
